Stretches

Stretching is a wonderful way to increase blood flow and relax muscles and tendons.  When stretching, always remember to breathe.  We tend to want to hold our breathe when we stretch.  Our bodies need the oxygen in our breath to accompany the stretch.  When you breathe through your stretches, you also get the added benefit of relaxation!

A few examples:

Stretch your fingers as far apart as you can.  Hold.  *Breathe*  Repeat as desired.

Push fingers towards your body, using your other hand.  Hold.  *Breathe*  Repeat as desired.

While sitting in your chair, interlace your fingers and push your arms away from your body.  Tighten your abdominal muscles.  Hold.  *Breathe* Repeat as desired.

While sitting in your chair, reach your arms behind you.  Hold.  *Breathe* Repeat as desired.

Keeping shoulders level, bend neck to one side.  Hold.  *Breathe*  Repeat on other side.  Repeat both as desired.

While sitting in your chair, reach your arms as high as you can over your head.  Hold.  *Breathe*  Repeat as desired.
